About East Bay Hospice

East Bay Hospice hospice care is an important service for many people who wish to live out the remaining days of their lives in dignity and relative comfort. Hospice is palliative, or comfort, care for seniors in the final weeks of their lives. This type of care does not seek to cure any specific ailment, but it does seek to end or control the pain and suffering that is associated with death. Hospice workers support the physical comfort of the individual as well as looking to their emotional and spiritual needs and those of the family that they are leaving behind. For this reason, many families take great comfort in using hospice care, although it is often a wrenching decision to make. Our video host, Julie M. Fiedler of Horizon Elder Law & Estate Planning, is a Certified Elder Law Attorney and a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys.  Here she has provided a directory of hospice care services to help you find the best care for your loved one.

There are a couple of different ways to receive hospice care. There are hospice facilities that specialize in caring for seniors who are in the final weeks of their lives. They work hard to attend to their needs and comfort them through until the end while treating them with the utmost dignity and respect. The other way to receive hospice care is in the home. Some seniors prefer to stay in the familiar surroundings of their own homes, and hospice care workers can accommodate those wishes by providing in home care. Ultimately, the way in which hospice care is received is a personal family decision as no one option is better than the other.
